Raised Bed Gardening

Raised bed gardening is a technique where you build (or buy) a structure, usually wood. The height of the structure can be adjusted for your convenience.

The structure is designed so all parts of the garden can be easily reached from the sides. Some people find this is good for minimizing bending or if they need to sit while gardening because of physical limitations. Width is anywhere from one to four feet wide. Length is dependent on available space and personal choice.

Soil is added to the bed making it possible to have a great growing environment for your plants. The idea is to space your plants so the leaves just touch each other when the plant is mature.

With the close planting weeds are minimized as is the need for watering.
